Hanover Emission Zone
On 1 January 2008, Hanover joined Berlin and Cologne in an effort to lower the health risks associated with motor vehicle exhaust fumes. To accomplish this, Hanover has established an official "Emission Zone" roughly defined by the expressways (Schnellwege) encircling the city centre. The Emission Zone is indicated by signs reading "Umwelt-Zone". Only vehicles which meet certain minimum requirements are permitted to enter the Emission Zone. To demonstrate compliance, an official permit (disc-shaped sticker) must be displayed on every vehicle's windshield. Official permits can be ordered direct from TÜV NORD via their website or alternatively, they can be purchased on site during the exhibition from:
TÜV NORD Mobilität GmbH & Co. KG
Convention Center (CC),
CC-Arkaden, Room 235
Please click below to download a brochure containing further information on the Emission Zone.
